All in White

All in White is exactly that — six broad falls in clean white, a true self with no veining or brushing to break it up. The only other color is at the heart of each fall, where yellow-green signals give the flower a center to look into. The restraint is the point; against green foliage, or catching low evening light, an all-white Japanese iris reads differently than anything else in the garden.

Registered by Donald Delmez in 1995 and introduced in 2000. Delmez, of St. Charles, Missouri, received the American Iris Society's Hybridizer Award in 2017 for his body of work with Japanese irises.

Standing 36 inches and blooming early, it opens ahead of most other Japanese irises — a good anchor for the front end of the season.

Japanese irises want moisture, especially through spring bloom season, and slightly acidic soil — they won't tolerate lime. Full sun gives the best performance. Hardy in zones 4–8.
