Electric Rays earns its name. Light blue rays fire out from the yellow signal across each medium violet fall, running almost to the ruffled edge before they stop — the effect is exactly the charge the name promises. A crisp, high-contrast flower that reads well from a distance.
Registered by Terry Aitken in 1990 through Aitken's Salmon Creek Garden in Vancouver, Washington. Its seed parent, 'Knight In Armor', also produced 'Bewitching Twilight' — the Payne Medal winner we grow — making these two half-siblings in the collection.
Standing 40 inches with midseason bloom.
Japanese irises want moisture, especially through spring bloom season, and slightly acidic soil — they won't tolerate lime. Full sun gives the best performance. Hardy in zones 4–8.
